Six new books on Avicenna studies will be published by March 2014 in Iran.
Four
book titles on Avicenna studies will be published by Bu-Ali Sina Scientific and
Cultural Foundation by the end of the Iranian year, Tavakol Daraei the PR
manager of the foundation said.
So
far, the first volume of Avicenna’s 'The Canon of Medicine', edited in Arabic,
was released in September.
Cooperating
with the Cultural Studies and Humanities Research Center , the Bu-Ali Sina
Scientific and Cultural Foundation has also prepared another book which holds
the articles presented at the Avicenna International Conference some 10 years
ago. The book is supposed to be released in Persian, English and Arabic.
Moreover
Iranian researcher Masoud Razavi said that another book entitled ‘The Letters
of Bu-Ali’, a collection of articles about Avicenna, and ‘The Sources of
Avicenna Studies’ will be published.
He
added: “‘The Letters of Bu-Ali’ is a collection of articles as well as four
interviews on Avicenna’s thoughts. The book will present information about
Avicenna gathered from around the world”.
Razavi
said that the book will be published in order to present a reference for
scholars who study Avicenna.
For
‘The Sources of Avicenna Studies’, David C. Reisman’s ‘Before and After
Avicenna’ was used; the book was published in 2003 but it was never rendered
into Persian, some of its articles were translated for the work.
