The Avicenna Foundation in Iran and the Philosophy Research Center of the Sciences Academy in Tajikistan have sealed an agreement to endorse studies on Avicenna for a year and introduce the man to the world.
According
to the public relations office of the Avicenna Foundation, the public relations
and international affairs manager of the foundation has said that based on the
agreement which was signed a few days ago, a top Tajik researcher on Avicenna
who has done a lot to introduce the personage to the world will be revered in a
ceremony.
Tavakol
Daraei stated that the foundation will welcome the researcher in a one-week
tour to Iranian philosophy centers.
It
has been further agreed, he added, that the foundation and the Tajik Academy of
Sciences jointly muster works and articles published in Tajikistan on
Avicenna's works as a book and have it published in the coming year under the
title of the Book of Avicenna.
As
he said, as many as 100 books on Avicenna will be granted to libraries by the
two organizations.
Moreover,
a symphony will be performed in Dushanbe by an Iranian group besides a movie
and series about Avicenna to be broadcast on the national Tajik TV.
Daraei
went on to say that a festival will be held about Mir Seyed Ali Hamedani's
works and personality by the organizations given the fact that the second
Avicenna Award is arranged to be held by the foundation next year.
Also,
based on the agreement, the organizations will hold celebrations on Avicenna's
next birth anniversary.
Head
of the public relations and international affairs office of the foundation
further added that the foundation will financially support 10 MA and PhD theses
of the Academy which will be done on Avicenna.
The
organizations have also agreed to publish the facsimile of Avicenna's
manuscripts in Tajikistan. Moreover, publication of other books by Avicenna
should be supported by the organizations based on the agreement.
As
Daraei said, in line with its goals and duties that are introduction of the
cultural and scientific facets of Avicenna's personality, his works, treatises
and writings, the foundation has set its chief obligation to cooperate with all
cultural as well as scientific centers engaged with Avicenna research.
Alī
al-Husayn ibn Sīnā commonly known as Ibn Sīnā or by his Latinized name Avicenna
was a Persian polymath, who wrote almost 450 treatises on a wide range of
subjects, of which around 240 have survived. In particular, 150 of his
surviving treatises concentrate on philosophy and 40 of them concentrate on
medicine.
